WHAT IS ASPECKS?

It's many things; a web-based magazine and society, a movement of global citizens
expressing themselves communally, a forum for discussion and debate, a facility for
cultural exchange and last but not least - a clothing line.

Separate because although people are all similar; each person possesses a unique
combination of diverse aspecks of experiences, appearances, culture and knowledge.

ASPECKS IDEOLOGY

ASPECKS (with a K for Knowledge) is about exposing the alternate aspects of culture
and identity that harmful stereotypes tend to overshadow.
Every person has, at one point or other, been either a victim or guilty of some form of
harmful stereotyping. Our minds whether we like it or not, use stereotypes to inform
our analysis of the world around us.

As members of global society, people owe it to one-another to be more certain of the
accuracies of the stereotypes that we use all in our daily lives. We believe that social
interaction in the form of cultural and knowledge exchange makes a better world.

ASPECKS GLOBAL SOCIETY

The ASPECKS GLOBAL SOCIETY is therefore a medium to expose and express the
various alternate ASPECKS of the world’s boundless variety of cultures. It is based on the belief and dedicated to the idea that although we all have our own distinct subjective identities, we are global citizens and share commonness in aspecks of our humanity.

In doing-so, we seek to expose and celebrate our common humanity and the distinct
ASPECKS that make our cultures and identities unique. We will therefore reflect the
continuities that exist between our global community’s diverse multi-dimensional
cultures, sub-cultures and identities despite their apparent differences.
As a consequence we can influence each other in the ways that we think and hence
the way we live. We invite you to join us on this mission by contributing articles,
pictures and your opinions to be posted up on the site.

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?

The world is changing. It is much easier for people today to get from far-flung placeto-
place and carry pieces of their culture and identity with themselves as
ambassadors. Innovations like the internet and the explosion of radio, television and
even movies allow for ideas and images to be globally transmitted and help people to
form opinions about places, cultures and issues with which they have had no intimate
contact. This is a good thing, however the existence of negative stereotypes reinforces the
differences between us as global citizens. Equally we see the current era as an
opportunity for citizens from all over the world to interact and learn from each other.

The ASPECKS movement is a fellowship for all types of people, who, despite their
apparent differences, socialize by exchanging ideas, thoughts and beliefs.
The basic premise is this; all people, although they are individuals with diverse
identities, share particular experiences, interests and beliefs in various ASPECKS of
their lives. There is always a common ground. Regardless of if you are; old or young;
Muslim, Christian or Buddhist; black, white or asian; listen to rock, hip-hop or
classical; meat lover or vegan; all, some or none of the above, through exchanges
with others and expression of culture and knowledge shared we can all enrich our
understanding of and experiences in our global society.

WHO CAN JOIN?

ASPECKS is an exclusively inclusive global movement open to any and everybody.
The only thing we cannot tolerate is intolerance. You are all welcome.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The website is very user friendly. It features a blog/magazine component, a gallery,
forum and a web-link sharing capacity at the moment. Most of it's content is publicly
viewable and available except for sensitive private information about users.
· Once someone has registered and has created a member profile, they are able
to view all the other members' profiles and more importantly add to the dialogue.
· Ownership of a user profile permits ASPECKS COMMUNITY members to leave
comments all over the site and participate in the forums as well as shout messages
on the frontpage.
· Members are welcome to contact administration via the contact us page to
submit content as well as eventually become feature writers and ASPECKS
correspondents to express themselves and their interests.
· The weblinks facility is controlled by the ASPECKS administration who will
upload links to that page once they have been suggested via the contact us facility
found at the bottom of the page.
We forsee a burgeoning global, exclusively-inclusive community that is multi-cultural
in every sense of the word. Welcome to the family.
